Weekend rewind

We did a whole lotta nothing this weekend... and I ain't complaining =)

As soon as I got off of work, I headed to La Fuente Bakery to get me some tamales. A gal on a forum board that I participate in had written a 'how to make tamales' article and I was craving it bad after she posted it. Since LaFuente was nearby and recommended by quite a few people at work, I decided to try them out. I ended up getting a dozen for about $13 and some change. They have 3 different kinds- chicken, pork and vegetarian - -I got 4 of each. The chicken one was awesome! The vegetarian (cheese & jalapeno) was good & the pork was just ok. Needless to say, by Saturday, between me, the hubs & the kiddo, they were all gone. =)

Since Friday was a short day for me, we decided to head to West Covina in search of a Filipino Christmas lantern or a parol. We went to West Covina with no clue as to where to find this Filipino novelty, but as luck would have it, we found a store that had it displayed & flashing at the first strip mall we turned in. We found one we liked and the owner even gave us a discount b/c she said we were the first ones to buy a parol this year. huh? I thought we were late --you see, in the Philippines they start celebrating Christmas as soon as the month ends in 'brrrr (ber)'. Yep, they start in September. But, we're in California so really, we're early.
The hubs wanted to put it out this weekend, but he changed his mind when I told him that I would hike my pregnant a$$ up on the roof and tear it down if he even bothered to put it up this early. Trust me, I would.
On Saturday, I decided at the last minute to attend my godson's soccer game since it was just me & the kiddo until noon (hubs had to make a few deliveries to some of our vendors). I got him ready and while I was getting myself & his stuff ready, he fell asleep! So I decided not to go and ended up taking a nice, long nap with him...nice!
Later that afternoon, my cousin D, came over and 'kidnapped' the kiddo. So the hubs and I decided to go grab some ice cream at Baskin-Robbins. And much to my surprise, my favorite seasonal flavor -Peppermint- is already out! Whoo-hoo!
On Sunday, we really vegged out! I think we took 3 naps- the weather pretty much put us in an even lazier mood. ahhh - but don't you just love having days like that?

I love BR Peppermint ice cream. I've already had it twice in the past 2 weeks ;)
