I am feeling kinda sad today.
My mom called and asked if I had gone to guampdn.com and seen their front page story...I told her no. She asked me if I remembered Jhenalyn- the lil girl whose parents owned the restaurant by my mother's shop. Yes, I told her - -I remember her.
She died. Here is the article that ran in the Guam local paper:

My heart aches for her family. She really was the baby of the family.
She was 4 years old when I first met her...I remember the first couple of months after her parents opened up their restaurant.... Lil imp that she was, she'd escape from the restaurant to go looking for other young 'Hafa Adai kids' to play with. I can still see her skipping past my mom's shop with a big smile on her face in search of someone to play Barbies or tag with. An hour or so later, one of her older siblings would come looking for her. If memory serves me right, most of the time, it'd be her brother Galvin looking for her... I think he was her favorite sibling and I'm pretty sure he adored his baby sister.
So the years pass and the Hafa Adai kids grow up...The last time I was on Guam, I saw her again...This time she was at the awkward age of being a kid & being a teenager. I even recall telling my mom - - Is that Jhenalyn? I remember her being this lil kid...yah, I remember her.
