I don't understand it when people tell me - Oh! we don't have any kids yet. We still want to travel. We don't want anyone to hold us back.
WTF? like a kid can't travel? Like they don't sell airline tickets for kids?
Ok - so you're probably wondering where this is all stemming from, huh?
Well, recently I connected with an old friend from high school. Our birthdays are just a few days from each other (same year) and we even got married within weeks from each other. I now have 2 kiddies and she...she has none.
When she found out that I have 2 boys, she automatically went into this whole spiel about how there's so much to see & that we're too young to be 'tied down' to kids...blah, blah, blah...
Ohhh! that irked me sooo much! As much as it's her decision NOT to have kids, you would think that she's understand that it was our decision to HAVE kids. but oh no!
Blah, blah, blah...you can't take off when you want...blah, blah, blah...it's no longer you and your husband...blah, blah, blah!
Ugh! I respect that she doesn't want to have kids yet, really I do.
However, I, no we, have never thought of having kids to be a hindrance to us. We've taken the kiddo to Hawaii when he was 3 months old. We've also taken him across the Pacific Ocean on a 12 hr. (total) flight to Guam...with me 5 months pregnant to boot! And in July, we're taking both boys with us to Hawaii - the kiddo will be 2 & the baby will be 4 1/2 months. We plan on taking them with us when we visit the Philippines and Thailand in 2011....OK - so we may leave them with my dad when we go to Thailand, but still... my point is - They're not a hindrance to our travel plans. Besides now that the kiddo can hold a point and shoot camera we need someone to take our pictures as we pose in front of a statue or something, right? hehe!

ok, i feel ya sista! this is right up there with the people who like to tell us (manny and i) that we CANT have just ONE kid...uhm, btw, too late people, it is not possible for manny and i to make another baby together! and I LOVE (well actually i kind of hate it b/c I'm totally jealous) that the kiddo has visited more places than i have in his short little life. And, he's already been to hawaii one more time than me, and in a few months he'll have been TWICE as many times as me!!!! aaaaah! i wanna be your kid! heh
Seriously....
Yeah..I need to know who this person is!! Hehehehe...and I'd like to give them a piece of my mind, too. I can totally agree with you about what you are talking about. My daughter who is bearly three has flown so many more times than I have my entire 29 years of life. She started out at two months, flew to Hawaii like a gazillion times and once to Guam and again THIS SUMMER, yes, a long flight from here and the lil' new baby girl flew to Hawaii when she was only a month and a half..so really...we can't pick up and leave when we want..it may take a couple hours to get ready--but heck we make due!!! And she's right about one thing, its no longer about the hubs and you..you have two boys now, duh!!!
Shes just jealous doll!! HEHEHE...no...really who is she? =)
NO REALLY---who IS THIS PERSON?
It sounds like she was trying to convince herself more than you. Sure traveling takes a little more effort than just throwing underwear and toothbrush into a bag but a person's life doesn't have to stop just because you have kids.
So I have to tell you...I entered to win tickets to Ellen's mothers day show on her website, and last week they called and offered me tickets! I am taking my mom and we are sooooo excited!!! I hope I end up with some goodies like you got the year you went :)
