Back to life...back to reality

I go back to work this week. Waaaah!
I could have stayed out longer, but I decided not to deplete all my sick and vacation time because it's still early on the year & ya never know what might happen. That and the fact that I'll be taking a few days off when we head out to Hawaii in July... and there's a possible trip we might be taking in the fall.
I will miss hanging out all day with the boys. Even though I hung out with the kiddo everyday, he still amazes me with his talking. Just the other day, he put together a 3 word sentence! He did it once before & I thought I didn't hear him right, but he proved me wrong and did it again. Wanna know what he said? He said, 'Mommy, you silly!' Crystal clear. Guess it's a good thing we don't 'baby talk' the boys, huh? The kiddo's doctor said the kiddo speaks pretty clearly too. So there - I'm not just bragging because he's my kid...a professional also agrees =P
And the baby? My, my has my lil serious guy grown! At his 2 month check up (about 2 weeks ago), his stats were: length: 22 inches, weight: 11 lbs 8oz. I forgot his head circumference, but according to Dr. Buzz, the baby is doing well. The baby got his first shots as well - -3! yikes. He took it like a trooper though! He cried a bit and as soon as we gave him his bottle, he stopped.
And so my maternity leave is up. So sad.
You know what makes it even sadder? I go back and we are having a memorial service for a co-worker I loved working with. He died unexpectedly last week. I'm still pretty shocked at his passing...actually the whole department is shocked. He's been with the department since 1976! He was a great man and our department has surely lost an extraordinary person. It's going to be so hard not to see him walking the halls or even to see his car parked next to mine. So sad.
