My cousin LeighZee spent the last half of her Spring Break from UNLV with us here in Southern California...so we made plans with my brother and his family to head down to the flower fields in Carlsbad this past Friday!
It was such a beautiful sight - blue skies and rows upon rows of different colors of ranunculus. And even thougth they had yellow tape marking where we couldn't cross, it didn't stop us from quickly jumping over to take a cheesy (Guam- style) tourist pose by the orange (where else? hehe) rows.

After hiking up the incline to get a better view, the boys were not too happy. Especially when the kiddo spied the tractor hauling people around the fields - he wanted to go on the 'hay ride'. (Yah, that would have been another $5. no thanks.) Look at him & his cousin looking all bummed.
Afterwards, we went over to the
strawberry field about a block away to try our hands in strawberry picking.

The kiddies had a blast picking strawberries! They couldn't wait till we were done filling our bucket...they started chomping away as they picked! Thank goodness we had water on hand to quickly wash the strawberries down.
By the time we were half way done, there was no denying the kids couldn't wait...their shirts and mouths had strawberry juice and their lil hands were sticky with it too - like LeighZee said -they were caught red handed! hehe!

I had the baby in a carrier the whole time we were picking and he wanted to get in on the action as well...so I handed him a strawberry. He loved it! that thing was bigger than his fist.

Since we had already paid for the bucket before picking, we wanted to make sure to fill that bad boy up....it was over flowing by the time we were done. My poor cousin had to walk precariously toward the end of the row with our precious pickings. Thank goodness there was a worker handing out plastic bags to help us with our haul.
See all that green behind her? Those are rows upon rows of yummy strawberries!
