Guam Vacay Part 4

Ok- I lied. Jamaican Grill was not the perfect way to end Day 3. After we left the restaurant, my Auntie F decided that we needed dessert. So we headed to the other Candy Store (AKA Tumon Sands Plaza) The hubs decided that he wasn't going to window shop & he ended up getting the watch he wanted. Let's just say the associate that helped us was all smiles with the (fat a$$) commission she got from the sale. Too bad the ding-dong associate that was working with her who thought we were just locals killing time with no intention to buy won't be getting any of that. SUCK-ER! Serves him right for ignoring us as soon as we walked in!

The hubs was nice enough to get me something as well. Can you guess which store we got my dessert? Ahhh- the hubs is too good to me!
Now THAT was a great way to end Day 3!

The next morning, we woke up bright and early and headed to the ever-popular tourist spot on Guam- Two Lover's Point Guess we weren't the only ones that woke up early! there were about 3 vans of tourists by the time we got there. Eh! Here we are, two lovers + 2 kiddos, hehe!
We tried to do a small, medium, large pic with the Latte Stones, but the kiddo either thought he should be medium or he was looking for some of his Japanese relatives that were listed on the plaques of couples who were married there! hehe!OK - so, I'm a dork that takes pictures of flowers, but isn't this hibiscus, pretty?
After leaving 2 lover's point, we decided to head to the Southern part of the island. Like the deep south. I love it down there. It's so different from the Northern part where my parents reside - it's quiet...and even more beautiful in my opinion.
We stopped at Chamorro Village again for some lunch with the intention of eating at a beach when we found a good one to stop at. The hubs has now discovered a new local favorite - shrimp keleguen, hence the repeat of the Chamorro Fiesta plate lunch. Hey, it worked for me & the kiddo, we got our red rice, shrimp patties and chicken keleguen (yep, the kiddo loves it too!)

On the drive down, my dad suggested we eat at a beach in Ipan. Perfect! there were benches and tables, plus the kiddo could go down to the water since it was low tide. Yah, not so perfect. There were flies galore as we tried to eat! We ended up eating in the car with the windows rolled up and the a/c on blast. The kiddo was whiny since he could see the water, but he was stuck in his carseat. Lucky for him, the ever obliging grandpa caved in and took him out by the water. By then it was the middle of the day and super duper hot, so we didn't stay too long.

As we wound our way around the island, we stopped at the Inarajan Pools. You know, even after all the typhoons that have ruined the bridge that connects you to the rock that overlooks the big waves, it's still a pretty place. The water is very clear & we were able to see the fishes and even an eel! The hubs marveled at a few of the fishes, saying that some of them are worth $$$ at the Mainland pet stores. Funny, I never thought of them like that - to me, they were just fishes, nothing exotic or rare about them. Guess that's another thing that I took for granted living on Guam, huh?
We made our way to Fort Soledad in Umatac. We met a couple of characters there! The first one is Amanda - a real carabao! not the fake-y painted ones that are all over the island. Her 'human' tried to get her to 'pray' for us. According to him (ok- imagine this with a THICK Guam accent) , 'Baby girl (he was talking to me), if you were a 'ten-chaa' (Chamorro word -the woman that leads the rosary) my Miz Amanduh kun falloo along! She kun sit! She kun kneel! She can eefen nod her hed when you say Ahhh-min!'

Uhm...how about we just take a picture with the carabao?

'Any ting you want NeNe girl! Make sure you take a solid picture, 'kay?'
OK - if you're from Guam, this should be either cracking you up or bringing back some memories! Hopefully both!

So we check out the fort & my pops snaps this pic of us :
Before we left, my mom decided she wanted to buy some of the locally grown bananas that Amanda's 'human' was selling. Of course, my mom enlisted me to do the asking of the price.

Me: So how much are the bananas?
AH(Amanda's Human): Oh Nene girl! I'm gonna giff you a good price! Any of the bunches here I'mma gonna sell fer yoo onleee fife dollars. Only fife dollars, Nene! It's becoz I want to keep the tradeeshuns of the Southern hospeeta -luty.
Me: ok - so any of the bunches?
AH: Yes, Nene! Any ting you see here is only fife dollars! You know, us here in the South, we're very hos-pee-tooo-ble.
Me: ok, we'll take this one.
AH: Baby girl, any ting you take, it's all solid! Here, lemme take it to your car.

And that was that! as we left, he yelled out: Bye, Nene girl! Take care of your Boboy!
Gotta love the people in the Southern part of Guam!
We made one more stop in the south... this time to one of the beaches where we used to go night fishing with my dad & uncles - Rizal Beach. I remember this rock jutting out, but I don't remember the tree growing from it. Sigh, it just goes to show that many years have gone by since those days...On our way home, the kiddo got a treat from Grandma who sat int he back seat with us. Well, technically, he got 2 treats. Here he is double fisting on the lollipops that Grandma gave him!
We were pretty pooped so, we headed back home. The kiddo fell asleep early and my parents agreed to watch them so that the hubs & I could have another date night! yippie!

We went to Rotary Sushi since that was the only place on our list from 3 years ago that we were not able to go to. ok- so pregnant and going to a sushi place? heck ya! There were stuff there that I could eat even if they mainly served sushi, ya know? I had about 4 plates of their Lanya rolls. It was yummy! Too bad that's the only place to get the Lanya roll =(

For dessert we went to the pastry shop right by the restaurant called Proa. We got a slice of this:It's a chocolate wasabi cheesecake! Sounds gross, but trust me, it's anything but that! We called it a night and headed home. Day 4 done!

On our last day, we were on slo-mo! we didn't leave the house until almost noon. We decided to have lunch at Capri (another local favorite). This time my cousin K joined us! He's a booger because this was the only time he could squeeze us in (Heck yah, I'm putting your butt on blast!) The kiddo liked Uncle K, so he's forgiven!
Poor Uncle K! He's allergic to seafood and he was being tortured by the smell of the squid spaghetti that my parents ordered.
We spent the rest of the day doing last minute things. And before we knew it, the fam bam was congregating at my parents place for one last get2gether. Again, I forgot to take pictures =(
After everyone left, my mom & I set about to packing our stuff - the hubs was asleep and my dad was pretty tired himself. I was so sad having to pack everything for our return. I wanted to stay longer, but with our business, we'd be pushing it if we were away for more than a week. I promised my mom that next time, for sure, it'll be longer!

When I was looking at your myspace and I saw the picture of the beach. I told my dad to look at it and he said it was Asan or something. Then I told him it was Rizal. He doesn't know xD, but it looked familiar to him.
