The hubby's paternal grandmother passed away in her sleep during the early hours on Tuesday, July 8, 2008. She died with a smile on her lips. We're glad to know that she went peacefully.
We believe as soon as she found out that her cancer was terminal, she set out and made peace with the knowledge that her time was limited. From the very first day, she said that she wasn't going to fight it - - -it was what God had intended for her .
The hubs and I are so very glad that she came back from the Philippines a couple of months ago...she was able to meet her only great grandson - -the kiddo. He may not remember her, but at least she was able to meet the namesake carrier (The hubby's dad is one of 3 brothers, but the other 2 brothers only has daughters! - - the hubs is the only namesake carrier amongst his gaggle of girl cousins...the kiddo is the heir and if baby #2 is a boy, he'll be the spare! hehe)
I'll miss talking to her - - every time I talked to her, I always found out something new about the hubby's family. She was very comfortable with me, telling me the truth of how things transpired (for some odd reason, the hubby's parents ALWAYS glossed the truth with us). For that I am so thankful.
Probably the most memorable thing I will always remember is what she told me when the hubs came with me to the Philippines to get some stuff for our wedding. We were hanging out at her place, looking at old photos, when she turned to me and said - -I'm glad my grandson is marrying you. Thank you for coming to the Philippines. I never dreamed my family here in the Philippines would meet my first grandson (the hubs). You've made me so happy just being here.
Who would have thought that us going to the Philippines would make her so happy?
Grandma Norma...thank you. We love you!
