The hubs and I were going back and forth about putting him in, since he was doing pretty well with my sister-in-law. But deep down we knew he was ready for it. Probably more so than we were!
When we were searching for a school for him, we fell in love with the school he is in now. But while we were touring the school and interviewing with a school administrator, we were told there was a waiting list to get in (yes, this school is pretty awesome). I was bummed! We found a second school we somewhat liked, but nothing close to how much we LOVE our first choice. So, we were thrilled when we got a call saying they had a spot for him! The hubs is convinced he and I wowed them with our awesome-ness during the parent-administrator interview. Who knows...All that matters is that he got in!
He was so excited to pick his bag and his lunch box for his first year of school. He's so my kid! Check out his back pack:
Oh yes... Domo! and you can't really see it, but his lunch box is a Ninjago one. No mistaking who owns these items in his class!The hubs couldn't make it for his first day, so it was just me dropping him off. As soon as we got to his class, he gave my hand a little squeeze, called out, "Peace out, Mommy!" and strolled right on in!
I got all teary eyed, so I hightailed it out of his classroom and called the hubs before I embarrassed myself.
We've now survived one week of 'school'. He still loves it. He likes his teachers...loves, LOVES one of the teacher's aide (and the feeling is mutual!) His only gripe? "why can't I stay longer?" hmmm...let's hope the excitement of school and learning doesn't wear off.
